Projects are aimed at assisting individuals, groups, families, the young, the elderly, the handicapped and the sick and dying. Assistance is given in a variety of ways including the supply of food, clothes, blankets, equipment, toys, building materials and many others.

Recent projects have included:

  • We have recently completed upgrading facilities at the John Wesley Centre in Etwatwa, Daveyton. A library, computer room, shower and laundry facilities have been installed.
  • With our Matching Grant partners in Taupo, New Zealand we have set up and after-school care group for AIDS infected and affected children. Participants receive a meal and afternoon activities which include playing of musical instruments, computer literacy and are also taught life skills.
  • Through a partnership with Rotary in Mechanicsburg, USA, we have upgraded bathroom and media facilities at CHANCE Children’s Home, including the supply of an incinerator and playground equipment.
  • We assisted HomeStart to purchase their own premises and have supplied much to them in the way of office supplies and funding for training of counsellors. The organisation that assists families troubled by social ills such as drug addiction, alcoholism, violence etc. Their focus is on families in which at least one child is under the age of 5.
  • We are involved with a number of community skills development programmes such as sewing circles; equipment donated to these groups allows them to learn a skill and earn a living.
  • Feeding the hungry, entertaining the elderly and giving blankets during our cold winters are all on-going projects.
  • Our Club has supported various HOSPICE offices in the greater Benoni area, The SA Guide Dogs, Muriel Brandt School for the Blind, K9 Rescue Dog unit, the Salvation Army and many others.
